Imperfection

I like to do things right. I wish I could be perfect.

There, I said it.

In fact, I would rather do nothing, than do something that is not up to what I consider “snuff”. The start of a New Year makes me a little crazy. My mind runs amuck with thoughts of how I can break 38 years of imperfection and assimilate myself into…what? I am not sure…but not the current imperfect me. I have met many a January 1st with list in hand of all the things I want to change, summed up in a few perfectly penned resolutions on perfect stationary, in perfect point form. I am not getting too far with these hopeless intentions. Year after year I continue down my path of imperfect humanity. And hope deferred makes my heart a little sick.

Can I tell you something?

I am tired. I am tired of trying to be something other than…me.

I want to embrace my imperfection. I want to let God sort out the mess and let Him decide who I am meant to be.

I want to breathe freely.

This is what this place will be all about – messes, discovery, honesty, reality.

Celebrating the imperfect life.
